Bees pollinate a third of everything we eat and play a vital role in sustaining the planet’s ecosystems.
Some 84% of the crops grown for human consumption – around 400 different types of plants – need bees and other insects to pollinate them to increase their yields and quality.
Bees are among the most numerous and efficient pollinator species in the world.
Considering that the average honey bee can visit more than 2,000 flowers in one day, these bees greatly increase the chances of a plant producing a fruit or vegetable.
Bees have been here about 30 million years!
How can we help!
1. Grow a bee-friendly garden
2. Treat tired bees to some sugar (two teaspoons of sugar to one
teaspoon of water)
3. Find out more about bees on the internet
4. Eat sustainable local honey
